Dear All,
Can anyone tell me how to calculate Quarterly Performance Index of an employee in Point rating method of Performance Appraisal.
What will be the formula and how to analyze it. I am short in time , hence I would appreciate if someone could help me ASAP.

Hi
First you have to decide on the rating factors ( hope you have done it !!) then decide whether you want to follow 5 point rating or 10 point rating scale. ( 0-5 or 0 - 10 ) then decide range for Excellent , Good,Fair average and Poor.. for example of 10 point rating system you may follow as below
1 being lowest and 10 being highest
1 - 3 poor, 3.5 - 5 Fair 5.5 to 7 Good 7.5 - 10 Excellent
Let us assume that you have 10 traits to measure and in this case what you have to do is, you have to assign the weightage in terms of % of consideration to each trait so that you value certain critical traits and that would contribute to the overall rating of the employee and then you have to calculate the final rating.
Calculation ( Considering all the below traits will sum up to 100 % )
Trait -----a ------------> 10 %
Trait------b -------------> 25 %
Trait------c ------------- > 40 %
..
. X %
.
. Y %
.
.
Trait ----J ( 10th trait ) ---> Z %

I have no experience in to all this. This is the first time where m handling it. The rating Scale fixed is 1-5. for this method. And after every quarter Performance Appraisal cycle will run. That means there would be 4 cycles in a year.
After every Quarter , Quarterly Performace index has to be calculated , same way after a year Annual Performace index would be calculated. Salary Appraisal will be done on the basis of 4 Quarterly Performance Index.
Quarterly performance index result will be an input to Annual Performace index. So let me know the formula of calculating them all.

Can you please tell, how we go about after going through the process mentioned and arriving at the final scores.
I mean, once we have calculated the score, how do we decide who is to be paid how much, who needs training, who needs carrer growth etc... there must be bar scale to finally classify the people, isn't it?
So, please help me about this.
