Dear professionals, If an employee is terminated during the notice period, should we provide him with the exit certificates?

Why NOT?
Whatever the reason for termination, the employee relieved from service should be given either a relieving letter or a service certificate showing their designation, date of entry and exit, and reason for exit. If the reason for exit or termination could cause stigma to the employee, you should also ensure that a reasonable opportunity was given to the employee to defend the charges before termination. Moreover, under the Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, there is a provision that an employer should give a service certificate to every employee. Therefore, failure to provide it may result in non-compliance as well.
