I worked for a two consulting company's in the US during 2014-2017 which is non operational now. My current company HR in india is asking me to drop an email for some data about me.

I have provided Visas, W2, paystubs etc but still they are telling me thats its their protocol to get a mail from my previous employer looping my current HR team.

I need someone's help to respond my HR. Thank you

In General case of Employee Background Verification Company can ask you about your pay slips, Appointment & relieving letters from your past employer.

In your case they are asking mail from previous employers who are not operational now. In That case, you can suggest them to do reference check through any of the past employee working with you in the same consultancy who is basically from US.

Moreover , now days we have social media accounts which helps to reference check any employee by connecting with his ex-colleagues.

You may also ask you current employer to hire Verification agency to check whether references given by you are true or false.

This are the possible ways to conform your past employment.
Hope I have clarified your doubts.

If you have an unreasonable or a stupid HR rep there, no one can help you.

Your HR's requirement is illogical as you can not obviously get a mail from a non-existent person or company.

I think you need to take this up with the HR Head of the company.

We have had this discussion before.

The absolute stupidity of this nonsense just beggars belief, and exemplifies all that is wrong with HR in India today, in my view. Some of the idiotic rubbish I read on this site just appals me. Here it is 2022 and no progress is being made.

I cannot comprehend how anyone with a modicum of common sense cannot see that when a company no longer exists and there are no records etc, that's it. Information is not available. End of discussion. Companies and organisations come and go. It happens everywhere, all over the world. Learn to live with it.

If I was to take a guess, this will have come from an untrained HR person who has no idea what he/she is doing, and is just following a check list without knowing or thinking about what it means.
