Dear All, Please advise, can any employee be eligible for a yearly increment while his Probation period is extended for another three months.
From India, Raipur
Dear Rakesh,

It depends on the Rules of probation of your establishment or the terms of the contract of employment as the case be.

If I remember correctly, in Central and State Government Services where the period of probation is normally a maximum of two years within a continuous period of three years, the probationar is allowed to draw his first annual increment but second and subsequent increments can be sanctioned only after the successful completion of the probation period.

My personal opinion is that a probationar particularly who is under extension may be granted his annual increment with retrospective effect only when he gets confirmed.

Dear Sir

In our organization increment cut off date is 30th September, joiners during 1st April to 30th Sept. are eligible for increment effective from 1st April, but this time lump-sum increment granted with effect from 1st August, and some of employees joined during Jan.-Feb.21, in that cases, completed six month, but their probation period extended due to office closed for covid 19, and their proper orientation and work not done during this period hence their probation period extended. In that cases they are completed six month but their probation extended .

Kindly advice in this condition what will do to maintain organization norms and employees satisfaction.

Dear Rakesh,

To my opinion increment should be given to the concerned employees as the probation period is extended due to COVID situation not within the control/performance etc of the concerned employees.

Moreover, the organization has been declared lump sum increment , therefore the probationer should not be deprived.
