I am working in a company I have completed my 6 months.. I have the offer letter with me and now I am asking for the appointment letter they said we can not provide the same. In the offer letter, it is mentioned you can leave the company but you have to serve the 3 month notice period. Otherwise, you have to pay to the company. What can be done in this case?

Is it that the organisation has only offer letter and there is no practice of issuing appointment letter giving detailed terms. Some organisations have this practice, and some others issue it after around six months or later when they are satified about the candidate. Whatever be it, both you and the organisation are bound by the offer letter. If it provides for three months notice period, then it is applicable to both, you and the organisation though it appears excessive. If you are wanting to quit then you will have to give this notice period, it can be reduced only by appealing to the good sense of the higher officials or try to buy in the remaining period of notice period which you are unable to serve.

You joined to the company by accepting their offer, so the terms conditions laid down in offer letter is binding. To have a peaceful exit better serve the notice period or buy out. It is always good to post the contents of offer letter or the copy as attachment for reference of the learned members to guide you in most significant manner on basis of the contents.

It is generally well established practice to issue appointment letter on the day of joining an organisation. In your case it is not known why it was not done so and what made you to join without getting the same as well as what made you to wait for six months to ask for it.
Now that that you worked for six months on the basis of the offer letter, your options are limited and it is better to adhere to the terms of offer letter governing termination
clauses in case you wish to quit.
