For betterment of my career, I decided to go for professional certification like HR Business Partner as it is in demand right now and having a bit exposure in it. But then i came to know about good career prospect in HR Analytics. I am in dilemma to pursue the certification now. Pl suggest what can be the good option? HR Analyst or HR BP.
Note: My Bachelor's is in computer programming so i am having good knowledge of technology.
Looking forward to hear from you experts. Kindly help..!
Thanks.

Dear Ankita,
Greetings!!
In current market, HR function is no more treated like a support function. Roles are evolved and HRs have become reliable business partners; closely working with business to understand company's hiring, retention, policies & procedures, project & resource movement, resource allocation, various pain areas, improvement areas and opportunities. With this, HRBP, TA, Analytics, C&B, T&D, HR Operations all have started working closely and directly with business as a trusted partner in success and not only as a support function.
Few quick inputs:
- Data has more power than anything! So one needs to have right & real time data in system. Doing Analytics comes latter, challenge is we don't have required data maintained in system/tools.
- If you understand your business, you understand opportunities, pain areas, demand, need of your company and your profile, you will be able to do various Analytics with available data.
Coming to your question:
HRBP & HR Analytics, both have good career perspective right now.
Analytics is demand of now and it should be integral part of all available roles, whether it's TA, HRBP, C&B or any other role in HR function.
Career & Role selection: Go by your primary interest area.
If you love managing various policies, procedures and Business Partnering go for HRBP role if you have interest in managing and doing various Analysis, playing with data, providing data solutions to HR and business and preparing various automated dashboards go for Analytics role.

To conclude my points and suggestion based on my understating of current market:
Any role in HR requires strong Analytical skills. So why not! HRBP with Data Analytics, it has wider perspective. Your Technology related skills & knowledge is anytime useful to prepare various data solutions, system and business dashboards for effective partnering.
For now, try to create visible, effective, reliable and real time data source for your company & function then try to understand HR & Business needs, perform Data Analytics/analysis with available data and see if you really need a certification at this point of time. This activity will also help you to figure out your interest in managing data Analytics related work & Profile. Once you are confident then only go for Certification because most of the HR Analytics courses are bit costly. Certification is always a value addition and it helps to have better understating of Tools, Technology and and systematic approach to perform one's job but it may not provide you expected growth immediately and weeks or month's time, it requires practice.
Hope this helps you to take right decision and to select best suited career option.
Thanks & Regards,
