Please elaborate rules for Sick Leave . As one of my employee was sick and applied for 02 days sick leave with medical certificate attached, but my boss has refused to grant sick leave and insisting that sick leave can be granted only 4-5 days that also if employee is hospitalised.

Dear Dinesh,
It appears that you do not have proper policy on employee leave. While running organisation, decisions cannot be taken on case-to-case basis. To avoid this, leadership or HR has to anticipate and design the rules well in advance.
Therefore, to avoid the confusion, you may sit with boss and design a proper leave policy.
Thanks,

Dear Dinesh:
From your note it is obvious that there are no clearly defined rules pertaining to leaves in your organization.
Remember that in the Company Statutes - accessible to each employee - among other things clear cut rules and policies pertaining to leaves are mentioned in the most unambiguous terms.
You, the HR team in tandem with the top management must put your heads together, to design such a document. While working on the document, see what the Indian Labor Law calls for.
You would then have no need running from pillar to post, to respond to each individual's leave application, on a case to case basis.
Have this SOP ready without much ado.
