Government asks for EPF no for taking in contracts but My firm is a small sole proprietor firm and have 2-3 employees. What should i do to sort this problem. Why new government of BJP do not want new upcoming contractors to start with their business.

Its not only about the government all.the major companies ask for EPF. Provident fund registration can be done with less than 20 employees too but once you get the registration then u cannot deregister till ur establishment is completely wound up.

Dear Ajinkyaaju,

Kindly refer your query and the contains thereof carefully. You are saying that you are in Civil Contracting and registered with ...... You are having 2-3 employees only...

How it is possible to undertake the Civil contracting work with 2-3 persons ? It means it might be a very small nature and quantum of work. OR you are undertaking the contracts and executing the work through temporary workmen / sub contractor.

You needs to considered the strength of such workmen while calculating the Strength of total employees.

Further If you don't have even the required strength for EPF/ ESIC registration, there is a option to pay the contributions of such employees [all including temporary/petty contractor]
under the Principle employers code No.

But in present situation, the Corporate, Govt & govt. undertakings are make the enrollment of contractors / vendors who are having all the necessary registrations.

Getting Registration under EPF/ ESI / PTax is not a big task. It is simple and in your interests also. Consult the local consultants they will provide you proper guideline.
