Entitlement to Paid Leave for Disability at Work: Understanding Indian Labor Laws - CiteHR

Hi,

Is there any Act of Government of India that states the entitlement of employees for paid leave when they get injured or disabled at work? The disability can be temporary, permanent partial, or permanent total.

Thanks

Employee Compensation and Leave Entitlements

As per the Workmen's (Employees') Compensation Act, an employee who sustains an employment injury (an accident during the course of employment) will be eligible to receive leave with pay and reimbursement of medical expenses. If the accident results in permanent disablement, compensation will also be paid to the employee.

For employees covered by the ESI Act, the aforementioned reimbursement of medical expenses, compensation, and leave will be managed by the ESI Corporation.
