I have 2 job offers, one has hike in basic with current and CTC is Low compared to the other offer where this has decrease in basic sal.
Eg current basic 20000 and CTC 6pa
Offer 1 basic 25000 and CTC 7.5pa.
Offer 2 basic 18000 and CTC 8pa.
Which one should i choose, kindly suggest.
Decrease in basic of salary will be an issue in career.

Increased Basic is advantageous for PF savings and retiral benefits. But the effect is not significant as in Pvt sectors people tend to switch over new jobs over a period of time. Better accept the offer with higher CTC and also check the employer standards.

Given the examples by you, I wonder why there is doubt!! The difference between the two offers is so large, that I will have no hesitation to accept the higher offer, all other working conditions being equal. Why does one have to take a reduction in the basic pay when switching a job??

In private sector the concept of CTC prevails. While jumping from one organisation to another in the private sector what is compared is not the basic pay but the current CTC and the % of raise demanded/ sanctioned over it. Accordingly, please do not hesitate in taking a decision which suits you.
