I had just worked two days in a leading private bank. After experiencing the work, which is entirely different from my job description I decided to quit.
I stopped going to the bank without any letter or notice period.
Now after a week the branch manager called me and said you cannot work in any banking industry if we mark you as absconded.
I just went two days and never received any salary. is there will be any problem? and can I join public sector banks?

Hi Krish,
Answer the following questions to give you some useful suggestions
1. Did you receive Offer / Appointment letter from the Bank?
2. Have you worked on Company Roll or On third party roll?
3. Have they shared any details about Notice period in writing?
4. Did you sign any paper before joining?
5. Did you not ask about your job (Roles & Responsibility) before joining? If No, why? if Yes, then why did you join there?

Dear Kresh,
Mr. Kanan's questions are very important to know your actual status.
But in between I would like to add a point.
Whenever you join any organization, may be possible that you have worked for a single day only , then also you need to inform them in writing that you are unable to continue and then only you should move out. This is a corporate etiquette that you should follow in your entire span of professional career.
It may be possible that after receiving your resignation letter they may not accept but that is a totally different case. Now a days technology is so helpful that you can send an email resignation also.
So be careful from next time onwards.

Hi Krish ,
I agree with Nipuna , as if you are not getting the job role suitable / convenient at your end you should have discussed it with the management of that bank they would have surely helped you in that case .

Hi Krish,

What Nipu & Ank said is absolutely right. Thanks Nipu & Ank for adding valuable note here. But now there is no point in talking about the past which we can not change.

One more question that i would like to ask you is that, will you accept and join them again if they offer you some other assignment which you expected? if yes, meet them directly and explain them about the problem that you have with the current profile. Request them politly to assign different projects where you can contribute better.

If you do not want to work with them, then I would suggest you to kindly do the following and see what happens.

1. Do not worry, Calm down. Every issue has a solution. Write them a clear mail on your resignation in a polite manner. Tell them that you were not feeling well and not in the station.

2. Meet them directly in the Bank and them valid reasons for your resignation. Let them know that you are ready to pay notice period amount.

3. If you can work for a month time to complete your notice period and if they are ok with your one month working, proceed with that, work for a month and relieve from the Bank.

4. If your manager is not ok with anything and he wants you to work for them in the same assignment. Do not worry, Tell them through mail that i am not able to work due to family issue and be happy with your current plan.

5. No company can force or threaten any employee to stay with them. They can not mark you anything bad and they will not do that for sure. They are calling you just to threaten you as you are a fresher. But to be on the safer side, please discuss with an advocate and have his suggestion.

Hi krish ,
Greetings for the day!!!!
To all,
With regards and due respect to all the seniors thank you for your valuable inputs . Krish you need to formally inform your manager an have a one to one discussion and discuss with him your concern. But leaving without any pror intimation can lead you to problems as well it will not only have an impact on tour progressive career but also on your college placements as wll.
also , later in future you might need to have a relieving letter or any such documents which can also be a concern.

Dear Krish

You would have seen all the previuos advises. So let me start from there.

In many companies like banks, once you sign on the offer letter and reported for the job they send the joining report to HR. Then only the Oringinal offer letter or appointment letter comes to you in such cases. The joinng kit may take some more time. But as per the joinng report the back end operation of Hr and Pay roll will initiate their work to link you with the system, pay roll, e muster, and more than that they will start your salary days also from the date of reporting considering that as you joining date.

Now as per the common practices the Branch manager has to issue letters of caution, warning and escalate to HR for termination. Or you have to quit through the system(through the intra net after log in with your employee code and password). Resignation letters are not required for many new generation banks and insurance companies. But they insist to do quiting electonically, as explained above. If you want a releving letter, you will have to quit. other wise they may issue termination letter. But if it is only for less than a week and no joining docs are submitted HR may revoke your offer letter as if you have not joined. And will make corrections in the system. In that case you need not show this experience. But I wont advise you to do so. Because this will become a integrity issue in the future. And there are enough chance for your new employer to find out this, if you are working in the same city.

They want you to continue there thinking that you are good, is very unlikely. because absconding or not attending the job with out proper reason will be viewed as attitude issue. They just want you to go there and do a proper exit so that they want to settle it smoothely. Auditing happens in HR also, and these kind of issue may be serious for them. So you should seriously think about going to the branch and quiting officially. Many things happens for a good reason. Be serious and optimistic in the life.

Dear sir,

i had completed two weeks of training and just two days in branch. the branch manager behaved very rude. i told i have no bike for that he pressurized me within a week u have to buy the bike.

during the training and interview they told only one customer visit per day and no door to door selling and the timings upto evening 6. but once i joined the bank for the twodays, i have been roaming out side the bank for the full day and returned and the bm scold me badly for not bringing any business and the bank works upto 10 in the night .

then i decided to quit and never back to the bank again, because it felt like hell. so i quitted.

i didnt receive any salary and they stopped it. one day hr called and confirmed that you are coming or not. he didnt say anything other than that. but the branch manager keeps on calling me and saying if i put you as absconded, you can never enter banking industry and any other job..

now i made my mind, never to go to any private sector bank again and try my luck in the public sector banks by writing exams. but im very confused after the black mail from my branch manager, can i go to public sector banks? or i cannot enter any bank again?
