Hi,
I worked for a company for 8 months and suffered from jaundice. As per the doctors prescription i was asked for 2 months bedrest .After 2 months my company refused to let me in and since i was in 2 yr probation period they didnt provide releiving letter. now i am doing mba from one of the best colleges in india and seniors saying that company will not let me sit for campus placement due to absence of relieving letter. One more thing i also worked for a family friend after leaving my previous company so if i provide details of that company (like releiving letter n all) so will it suffice or they'l still ask to submit the releiving letter of my first employer...

1. For the first company, you provide offer letter and medical history 2. For second company, you collect service letter/relieving letter With this you prepare an appeal and submit to your college

Dear Ms. Pete Mitchell123,

With the exception of joining as an experienced candidate or fresher all depends on you. Obvious, in case if you do not posses a releiving/experience certificate your tenure for those 8 months would not be pertain.

How many months have you worked for your friend? If it is for a shorter span, I'd suggest you to take recommendation letter (on the letter head) from the last worked along with the releiving etc., as a "Recommendation Letter" always speaks about you essentails skills & the position worked for. This gives the Hiring Manager a dexterous/handy information regarding you. Certainly, your resume speaks it all -- if you provide the information of your previous employer, may need to explain the cause of your abrupt leaving (No Employer demands for certificates unless the resume has got such loose ends).

People speak apathetically, all you need to do is to check the strengths you have and buy yourself well during the interviews. Being with positive mind always creats yeild.

All the Best!

Well in addition to response by Sharmila ji, first I would like to say that the actions taken by your employer was obvious because you never informed them about your illness. How they can get the reality of your sickness and that Doctor has advised you to take rest of two months until you inform them by anyhow. Bed rest does not mean you cannot make a phone call and send an email to your employer. Now you say what you did.

Second, can you please let us know who has provided this probationary job option to you? And you said, “Now you are doing MBA” does it mean you enrolled yourself for MBA after this working period (Probationary job) or what?

See, if you were working in past and have enrolled and started your study later this period f working, there is no need to prove this past employment until asked by your University with whatever benefits /options that student can expect. Therefore, you do not need to worry about losing your position for campus recruitment or listen your seniors.

Third, if you are talking about your senior collage mates by addressing SENIORS as quoted above, I believe you must not take them seriously but need to consult your any mentor/collage faculty (the one whom you can talk) or your any collage authority in this regard. But certainly must not take your collage mates seriously by their believing.

Now about relieving latter if asked, it is you who knows that you have worked for a Family friend not University/Collage. You just have to prove that you were employed not that your employer was a family friend or whatever, so in this case your relieving latter certainly be sufficient but what value your campus recruiter would give this company of your Family friend where you have worked, is totally gonna depends on them. We cant actually say anything in this regard.

Eight months is a good period of time & the documents from your friends company will serve the purpose. I suggest you to rather keep an answer ready in case if some one (known of you) excavates about your past experience. Rest assured is your performance.
