Dear All, I have around 8 months exp in recruitment. Now I am kind of getting bored of making calls and speaking to the candidates. I want to make my career in recruitment. I just want proper guidance on how to enrich myself in the same field. Please advice.

hi Sonal,
If you want to pursue career in recruitment, then making calls will be a inseparable part of it, at least till you are working in a consultancy.
The only way out will be joining any corporate where in you can work in recruitment strategies, planning etc, or generalist role. Complete a year and then you can target some corporate openings.

What I understand from your post you wnat to handle core recruitment functions like conducting joining formalities and induction etc. If it is so, you need to join a corporate. Since you have only experience in recruitment, it may be difficult to get into a corporate since they look for candidates with General HR skills at the entry level or junior level. Therefore try to look for I.T or ITES or Biotech sectors where the HR profile at entry level is predominantly recruitment oriented .

Dear,
As per my perception through your post you need to switch your job ASAP otherwise it may lead to depression. Be cool and join where you could learn basic of HRM but be away from such mind set because in this field you need a deep patience to survive. HRM is a vast & versatile field and recruitment is a part of it too, but there is very few to learn against this whole subject however in recent trend organization doesn't take risk making faith on freshers awarding so critical responsibility of HRM. Hope you must have wore the attitude of a HR professional apart from learning Pre & Post Recruitment processes. In my opinion one should make his carrier in Recruitment only after possessing a good knowledge of all sectors of HRM.

Hi
Recruitment is mainly based on sourcing the candidates and calling, if that is boring means this shows u r not aware of what exactly you looking for.
First get it cleared yourself wether to develop your career in recruitment are not, if not look some Core HR Role,
this might be the right path

You simply cannot avoid phone calls from most of the job roles today. Thats an evident part. Even if you are on the corporate side, you will be required to co-ordinate with vendors/ joinees/ candidates scheduled for interviews etc over phone only.
You need to firstly remove this roadblock from your mind as you we simply can't imagine a job role without phone calls in tdays age. ven if you are in IR frequent liasoning, co-ordination with labour consultants etc happens over phone only as nobody has got enough time to visit each time to your office for this.
This is people's business. Its all about interaction & we have to accept that. No matter how much technology pours into our lives, one cannot ignore conversations. If you still find phone calls annoying then try switching to a proper back office/admin part like preparing payrolls, maintaining employee database, several types of work on excel etc.
Thanks,
Anand
