Dear friends,
Chances of passing this bill is nearly ZERO. This bill is introduced by one of the members of Parliament and not by Government. Such kind of bill i.e. bill introduced not by Government is called 'Private Bill'.
This issue is discussed earlier in which, one of the members Shri. P. C. Agrawal has given the above input.

Dear friends: As Korgaonkar has put it, this is a private bill put up by Shri Ram Chandra Kuntia, Vice President INTUC and since there is no official support from Government, the bill is not likely to make any headway. Such quantum jump in gratuity cannot be appreciated, looking to the general recessionary trend in industry these days.Regards:

Dear Friends,
The above comments are very true but if we see the maximum amount of gratuity is limited to Rs 10 Lakhs that means any employer can give maximum of 10 lakhs of rupees that to on his BAS + DA.
One can also see if this bill gets approved the sustainability of employee will stay longer with the company.

No doubt it is a "Private Bill" but all trade unions and the entire working class must unite & put pressure on all political parties to support right cause.

Dear Friend,
Thanks for updating on the proposed amendment in the Payment of Gratuity Act,1972.
One of our member has rightly pointed out that such a bill moved by a member of either house is called a "private bill".Such bills are hardly likely to see the light of the day as these are not having general acceptance either from the members of either houses or from the Party. It is further seen that the proposal for increasing the nos. of days from 15 days to 30 days for the purpose of calculations for quantum of gratuity is too harsh. Neither of the employers' organization will support it, particularly when there has been increase in the maximum limit of gratuity from 3.5 lakhs to Ten lakhs recent past.

Dear All,
Any such move firstly passed by both houses of parliament .i.e. hon'ble members of parliament( Rajya Sabha & Lok Sabha) should present & voting by two third , then the said passed bill be sent to President for his signature .Subsequently, it would be published through official Notification in Gazette.

It would have been better if the ceiling of Rs10lakhs is taken away and the rate is increased to 20days. Varghese Mathew
