Dear Friends,
One of our employees isnt reporting to work nor does he inform his reporting manager of his whereabouts. But he is replying to mails that have been written to him since the last 3 days. What letter can I write to him for his behavior?
Would appreciate a quick report for experts on this forum
Thanks!

 what do you mean employee is not reporting to work or his reporting manager?
Is this employee on leave that is been approved or absconded? If the employee is on leave or without getting prior approval of the same by his reporting manager, can be issued a warning latter.

Dear simihanspal
Please ascertain the whereabouts of the employee through informal sources - colleagues, friends, family etc.; and there are several ways to do so.
Three days absence; unless someone is entrusted with a very sensitive or urgent assignment; is not very alarming.
Since he is replying to emails; you can mail him and ask him to apply for leave with proper justification and communicate his whereabouts.

Warm regards.

Dear friend,
Greetings for the day!!!
Employees not reporting on duty without proper information is a matter of great concern. Try to find out from the sources regarding his/her whereabouts like his friends, family etc, even you can call on his/her cell to know the reason. Sometime, their are situation where employees are not able to inform their reporting supervisor but this is a serious misconduct on their part.
Once, she/he reports on duty arrange a counselling session and try to find out the reason for this irresponsible behaviour. Moreover, serve him/her with a cautionary note. I do not think warning letter should be served if it first time.
Hope this will help you.
Thanks and Regards,

give him a oral warning for his misbehaviour, Any responsible person will inform his supervisor or manager, whatever the matter maybe. 3 days without intimation, but responding to emails, something fishy about whole episode

Dear Simihan,
In case the employee has been absenting from work/duty without permission/ information for a period of atleast one week please inform him that he has been absenting from work without prior permission which is a serious matter in terms of the conduct rules/ Certified Standing Orders of the company and direct him to report for duty within three days of the receipt of the mail failing which it will be presumed that he is no longer interested in the service of the organisation and further action will be taken accordingly.

Is it ethical for employer to deduct Salary inspite of attending official works but at the pretext that the method of attendance has been changed from manual to Digital which I didn't comply in view of communication gap ; 25 days salary was deducted , my question is whether such arbitrary action has any remedy since no warning letter, no caution or discussion was made and unilaterally Salary was deducted, inspite of email no opportunity was provided to hear me; Kindly advice legal remedies / option available for such clandestine action by employer and oblige.
