Hi I am Khushboo,
I am working in a Private limited company which is related to Travel.
We provide 21 paid leave to all employees in a year.
However many employees are exceeding this limit and taking near 50 days leave in a year without any specific reason for leave (maternity or major injury).
Just want to know is there any policy regarding the maximum limit of leave which an employee can avail in a year.
Thanks

Hi Khushboo
To avoid this complexities you should frame a leave policy. If there is any policies then everything will be alright.
Once you schedule max PL then if they exceed those then you shall deduct their salary

Hi Jeevarathnam,
Thanks for your valuable response.
We have policy of leave which is -
"1.You will be on probation for a period of three months during which you will be entitled only to 1day casual leave in a month. Upon satisfactory completion of probation you will be confirmed in the regular service of the company.
2.You will be entitled to all benefits, perquisites as per the rules of the company for which an employee in your category is eligible. On confirmation, you will be entitled for twenty one days annual leave (14 earned and 7 casual), which will be given on pro-rata basis".
Also we deduct salary of employee in case they exceed this limit.
Still we want to set certain rule so that employees will not take this much leave.

In that case you should educate & train them. You may also counsel and advice them softly as it is not advisable taking more leaves. Every thing will reflect in appraisals and promotions.

max leave one can avail in a year is max. leave permitted by the company (all type of leaves) beyond which the leave may be treated as LOP except in the case of maternity leaves or some spl. leaves.
