Dear All

We had earlier discussions on Fire Extinguishers.

Just for information - as per AMENDMENT NO. 1 DECEMBER 2008 to IS 15683:2006

‘The following standards shall be withdrawn with the implementation of this

standard:

1) IS 940:2003 Specification for portable fire extinguishers, water type

(gas cartridge) fourth revision)

2)IS2171 :1999 Specification for portable fire extinguishers, dry powder

(cartridge type) fourth revision)

3] IS 6234:2003 Specification for portable fire extinguishers, water type

(stored pressure) (second revision)

4) IS 10204:2001 Specification for portable fire extinguisher, mechanical

foam type

5) IS 13849:1993 Specification for portable fire extinguisher, dry powder

type (stored pressure)

foam type (stored pressure)

Clause 3.l(a) of IS 2878:2004 ‘Specification for fire extinguisher, carbon

dioxide type (portable and trolley mounted) (third revision)’ shall also be

deleted simultaneously with the implementation of this standard.

Dear All,
This reminds me, there are some agencies which give the updates, amendments etc in IS Standards.
The professional charges of such agencies are quite resonable.
All we have to do is mail them the list of all IS standards and revisions. They will give monthly report on these standards.
One such agency I know is SATISFY. (Standards and Teshnical Information For You).
Updation of standards becomes necessary uder DOCUMENT CONTROL clause of ISO 9001 2008 and other standards.
Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir

Dear all
We are not getting any manufacturers who are complying with IS 15683:2006. The existing suppliers are saying that that the new specification requires major changes in production and testing setup for which none of the manufacturers have been unable to obtain the ISI 15683 marking on their product.
Under the circumstances, these manufacturers are pressurizing us for procuring the items without ISI marking.
Need help on this matter - especially we require some names of manufacturers, preferably in Eastern India who would be able to supply as per the new specification
Thanks
Sanjib

Dear Sanjib
There are many who are into the market. This standard has not come overnight but has been send to all manufacturers nearly 03 years back. Please dont come under pressure as the manufacturers will now try to dump their materials. Ask for their ISI licence renewal.
Some of the manufacturers licenced as under:
KANEX (KANADIA)
SUPREMAX...
We would be going with these two vendors.
Sorry friends I did not visit this site since long. Please find the attached IS 15683 for your reference. SOP is not yet prepared & we wont need to discard for another 05 years. Once SOP is prepared I would definately share.
Regards
Neeraj
