Dear Seniors,
Very very happy new year 2012
I can not go to Internet cafe since last 2/3 weeks.
I get late in the company then feel tired and no energy.
I require a guidence from all seniors.
We are planning to store 1000 liters of liquid paint.
Please advise if we need a licence for this. If yes from which Department.
Thank you in advance.

Dear AITES,
What i suggest you on this matter using a separate container its must away from other containers at least 25 feet. Paint storage containers must be installed A/C or proper ventilation. Paint Storage container electrical items must be meet NFPA standard (I don't have any documents related to NFPA)
For more info just go by the link OSHA Regulations for Flammable Liquid Storage in FM Approved Safety Cabinets <link updated to site home> ( Search On Cite | Search On Google )
Also refer the Indian standard regulation it will help to stay in compliance.
Hope its helps.

Dear AITES,
Sorry for the late Reply.
Please read the MSDS of the paints.
Find out the Flash Point.
Confirm if it is Class B or Class C
The quantities you can store are 2500 ltrs (max 100 ltrs in one container) in class B, and 45000 ltrs in class C. Beyond these you need to take licece from Department of Explosives.
Attached is the extracts of Petroleum Act 1934.

Sudhir

Dear Aitesh
In addition to Mr. Sudhir and Raghu's contribution I would like to tell you two things.
1. If we store the Paint in a store please make arrangement for necessary and adequate fire prevention equipments and display No Smoking posters in Paint Store.
2. Please make sure that your paint store should not spoil the environment. Plan for proper disposal of empty Paint containers, which may become a hazard to environment and Fire Hazard.

Dear Abhay,
To the best of my knowledge the Display of extracts is required for Factories Act.
As regards to Petroleum Act 1934, all receptcles containing Class A shall be stamped, embossed, or printed warning on the container itself. This can be pictorial or local language as well.
However if your have read any such clause pl let me know the serial number I shall go through it and shall come back to you.
Regards,
Sudhir
