Dear Isha!
Greetings for the day!
Here with 4 Months of experience a good and big company will not offer you a post of a Branch Manager, But this comany does. So from this we can understand that this company standard is very low. But when you ask me the same question, I'd like you to suggest that, don't go for the job of that Branch Manager and pls make the path in you career a clear one and not a complicated one.
Thank you

Hi Isha
Firstly you should have not accepted the role of Branch Manager since you have done your MBA in HR + you have some few months exp in HR.
Just because the designation is of Branch Manager - you cannot play with your career
If your interest + your educational qualification is suited for HR - pls go on that line - instead of wasting your precious time

Dear Isha,
I would prefer, go ahead with the Nranch Manager post, every designation gives some of its knowledge and experience which is always worthfull.
I am sure they will give you HR responsibilities of entire branch ( attendance, recruitments, payments etc etc).
So do not worry, except the offer and go ahead with new learning and experience.
Myself have worked as Admin Incharge at one of the Small Company and I got very very good and worthfull knowledge and experience, therafter I joined a big company where there is very low or sometimes no work, hence I am changing my job now.
So dont worry, be happy, be positive, learn and grow wherever you get the chance.
Believe me it will always weight to your profile and bigger companies (if required) do not hesitate to bring down your designation in their firm, so you can decide what is best.

Dear Swetha,

I agree with the words of Yaasim, i don't know why people prefer of doing a job when they have completed Masters in Business Administration, getting a professional course is not meant for doing a job, see u have received an offer as a Branch manager may be its an opportunity for you to show what you can do than others, may be the company excepts more from you, think positive if company standard is less,, than make the company standard high of-course for what you are there.Take the challenge and Increase the brand of the company,,

You can get a job in any company as an HR, but u rarely get an opportunity to run a Business. Have a cader where u can command some one not a place where to fold your hands in-front of the Boss for not completing the targets

Im agree with Mr. Mohan and Manju ..thanks guys for your inputs and valuable suggestions to Shweta bcz this job position can ruin her HR career and can be a big big hurdle towards her HR goals.

Let me ask you Shweta. what you have decided and what you wanna do in your life. If you still havent set your life goals and what you wanna achieve in your life, plz take your time and do it now. Bcz its your time and you have have to do this...

See dear you have done your MBA in HR and have already 4 months experience, means you just have started your HR career then why you are going with this job/position Branch Manager, you must not go with this it. I understand this certainly will help you by many ways or financially but will not give you any more chance to get back this HR Career in your future life and that time perhaps you will realize that your decision that you have took in your past was not a good decision.

Therefore, I suggestion to go with Human Resource, this will definitely take some time to establish yourself but will give you a strong base and believe me there is much scope and many more in this HUMAN RESOURCE CAREER.

Best of Luck

Hello shwetamht02,

Forget for a moment about the advice of ALL OF US here @ CiteHR. And also forget for a moment if your MBA-HR will be a hinderance or plus-point for the offer you have in hand.

First YOU make up your mind as to which direction you want to take your career path.

Also, recollect the exact reasons WHY you did MBA-HR. I am sure there must be very valid reasons for that step of yours.

Now check-out if this offer will help you achieve the goals you set for yourself--2/3/5/10 yrs from now.

The farther you can look into, the better planned your career 'can' be (mind you I mentioned 'can' be, since there will always be a chance of the slip between the cup & the lip--that's life I guess, but like the Quote says: it's better to have a sketchy plan than no plan at all)--but pl note that it's also OK if you just are able to plan only for the next 1-2 yrs, the idea being YOUR COMFORT LEVEL in this process of matching your career goals vis-a-vis the opportunities.

There's also another thing that, I think, needs highlighting/differentiating. MBA-HR doesn't ever mean you have to get stuck with the HR line of career. It's meant to give one the ability to deal effectively with 'human resources'. And dealing with human beings is by-and-large a part of any managerial role--the only difference being that in the HR role it becomes the primary focus while in other functions, it becomes the secondary focus aiding the primary function, whichever it may be. If you notice, quite a few of the top execs today in India have their footing in non-HR lines & yet they are MBA-HR qualified.

Coming to the present offer, like I mentioned above, if your career plans are being met with this step, just go ahead & join. If not, just ignore this offer. And next time, pl try to focus on only such openings that can aid you in achieving your larger goal. Everyone has his/her own way of looking @ situations. Take all the opinions offered to you as INPUTS--finally it's YOUR DECISION & it has to be your's alone, since IT'S YOUR CAREER.

You had completed Masters in Business Administration right.?!! your specialization is only Human Resource. you are qualified for managing a business UNIT.
In two ways, you can arrive a conclusion
1. If u want become a HR professional u should try your own past kind of job.
As an HR professional even corporate HR Head cannot play role in framing Business Policies/Strategies. HR is just Administration of Human Resources in a company . yes, there are opportunities and growth as usual and all do.
2. If you want grow as a business Administrator.you should go with this profile.
if there is an Institution, its business strategy would be in concentrating the following three and developing plans on them
placement, Courses and Teaching methods, the third, Infrastructure and facilities Accreditation.
Try to remember what you had learned in MBA,u got different ideas, choose the best one you Like and as your wish.
Good Luck!
