Hi guys,
I graduated (2008.) from a very reputed engineering institution (A+ tier). I got placed at the time of recession in a company that had no match to my reputation, hence I left it early and without wasting any time, I joined a decent core company at a very Low CTC :( . Since then I am working here, and now am looking for job change. I am expecting very handsome CTC, the only hindrance is my current CTC, which if I disclose would only narrow my chances. I am thinking of faking my salary details, and would produce a fake salary slip if demanded by new employer. But I am not sure even if this works in getting me the good job, what other precautionary measure I would have to take, so that in future i don't fall into trouble?
Kindly, help me out and provide suggestions :|

Hello samco.me,
Nikhil S. Gurjar is very much right.
I agree with with him, but would also like to add other reasons why he is right.
1] Now-a-days, Background Checks [BCs] are very common[[sort of a regular rule] by many Organisations. So suggest don't mar your very good track-record with such a short-sighted step.
2] Pl remember that you weren't THE ONLY ONE who was effected by the recession. You are just among the thousands [if not more] who were effected--in your own area/skill. Just because you too were effected doesn't mean you should resort to the methods you suggest.
3] coming to how to handle your situation, suggest place the facts before the Interview Panel--some may not agree with your logic while some may. Whatever be the outcome, give your best to prove yourself @ work. This is sure to be noticed & you will stand to gain in the long-run.

Hi,
recently I have interviewed many candidates, who got placed on very low packages at the time of recession, but now they have many offers in their hands with good CTC.
so I hope if you try, you can also get good offer. again like others you can also simply tell to employer that due to recession, you had to opt that option.
All the Best !!

Dear Samco.me,
If you are really keen in working in South India, you can forward your resume to my e - mail ID .
Do not fudge salary drawn. If you are the best in the industry there are companies that pay for the competency you possess.

  • Why you want to fudge your salary. Tell the truth, there are sensible people in the world, who very well understand market reality and will also understand and appreciate your point of view if explained properly. You do not have to be dishonest to achieve something.
  • Just imagine what are the consequences in case you are caught in your act.
  • Imagine you are selected in a good organization and you got the desired salary but later at background verification stage you are exposed. Your appointment will be withdrawn and you will be blacklisted for ever and you will not be able to join that particular organization even in future.
  • Also imagine you manage to join the organization at higher salary but at later stage you are exposed. You will be terminated immediately. You will be jobless with a humiliating termination order in your hand.

Dear Young friends,
As a senior manger, I would like to give few suggestions to upcoming young executives.
Please do not resign in a hurry or in frustration. Gain good exposure at least for a period of 3 years to 5 years. Do not run behind money it never allow us to learn and spoil our health.
Never do wrong things like creating bogus salary certificates etc. Always speak truth only. Honesty pays every one. Back verification spoil our entire career.
Good luck to all

Dear Young Friend,
I am fully agree with Mr. Rao. After my engineering I started with the salary which no one can even dare to think. Long term relationships with company always gives positive feeling about the candidate. The salary may be low but it all depend how to learn whatever best possible from given responsibility. Once you are confident in your job and profession, I believe, the past salary does not make any difference. In 23 years of career this is my fourth organisation where I am holding a very responsible position.
For young generation only one message. Feel that the place where you work like your own business. Once you will get that feeling you will be master in every area.
All the Best.

Yes Vijay!
you are right. but would like to mention here that while working with one company for long time make sure that employer should not take you for granted. I hv seen many examples of same where in spite of doing good and taking new initiatives, old employees are considered like taken for granted, their demands are not listened just for the fact that they wont leave the org, so can be treated later on.
so as rightly said that You should not only work smart but appear to be a smart worker in front of others.

Iam sad that someone want to encash the Institutes reputation, but doent talk about his ability ??? The employer during interview may listen to you, but your work and knowledge need to be reflected during the interview.
Second you already have a job in hand, so you are not desprate, so have confidence and during negotiations for salary tell them that you want x cost which will definitynot be matching the expectations, but definitly better then what you are getting.
The Salary Gap of what you are getting now and what you should get as per your college reputation can not be bridged in one go but it will catch in 2 changes and will take time.
Despration with illegal means will always make you tense and will keep your future in dark. There are organizations which have sacked people for providing fake documents even after joining.
