Dear Jareena,
Experence letter is given on the length of services unless there is some serious like theft case.......
It is not a valid reason to hold experience letter. You should definetily give experience letter.

Do not mention Performance in the Experience Letter. You can mention the other points viz. length of service, designation and reason for leaving etc..................rgrds

Dear Jareena,
Not everyone is smart in this world. Smartness of smart persons gets value because there are some dumb folks.
For the poor performance you are removing that person. That in itself is punishment. Now why you wish to tamper with someone's career by not issuing the experience letter?
You may issue neutral service certificate. It can include basic details like
a) Name of the employee/employee No.
b) Date of Joining
c) Designation when joined
d) Salary when joined
e) Details of promotions acquired
f) Date of Exit (last working day)
g) Designation and salary while leaving employment
h) Reasons for leaving: - on his/her own accord

superb with dinesh's idea...think yourself as that person and if you were been removed without an experience letter...how would it be?
So go ahead with dinesh's idea..thats excellent...
do not hinder anyone ..please..he has tried his best shot to give, but bad time hasnt done that ,..so please issue him an experience letter.

Now a days, HR Scinario has drastically changed. Gone are the days to just see and trust anybody's certificate. Furthermore, performance of an individual depends on so many factors including essentially the bringing up of an employee in a trustworthy environment. It is quite a complex phenomena. I have seen so many toms and harrys who were below par performers in x company and meritorious performers in y company after a simple span of couple of year.
Since it is the fact the the employee has worked with your organisation, it goes without saying that he IS ENTITLED to have a certificate to that effect.
Now, it depends on your management, whether they are generous enough to say GOODBY with clear heart or else.
It is a general practice that employers issue and wish bright future to every one UNLESS the employee has been chargsheeted.

Dear All,
Greetings,
If the concern person has served the desired notice period and has completed necessary procedure of your organization you should not hold back his experience letter as it doesn't gives a good signal that due to non-performance we are holding back your experience letter rather i would blame his reporting manager as to what he/she has done to improve that employee performance in his current roles as an HR professional what measure you have taken to ensure that he/she improves his/her performance. I hope you have PIP process in your organization for non-performance. If not you can think of implementing the same which will help you monitor non-performance and decrease your attrition ratio.

Why do you want to keep person having poor performance. Hence, In my view giving experience letter on poor performance does not arise except for govt. employees. only govt. employees can continue in the job with poor performance.

hi,
in general experience letter is a certificate to show that person has worked in said concern on such terms (mentioned by Dinesh). as far as performance question is there, we all might have come across many experience letters in which it is mentioned he was a best performer and we wish him all the success for his/her future and blah..blah..
if someone is non-performer, no need to mention those praising lines in letter, but kindly mention other genuine things which are mentioned by Dinesh above.
this is not a reason to hold back experience letter for anyone.
