From India, Bangalore
Dear Sandeep,
As per Labour act, normal working hours are 8 hours per day but a person can work maximum upto 9 hours per day i.e. 6 hours per week. That's what I read somewhere. After getting more information, I'll get back to you.

As per Factories Act, no worker shall be permitted to work for nine hours in a day. At the same time, if the hours of work exceeds nine hours he will be eligible to get overtime payment for each hour worked beyond his normal eight hours. That means no overtime payment will be payable if he works only for nine hours whereas if he works for ten hours, he will be paid overtime for two hours.
The spread over of work including intervals of rest should not exceed ten hours and thirty minutes.
In case an employee is engaged in some urgent repair work, his working time shall be extended upto twelve hours. In such cases, the spread over of work should not exceed thirteen hours.
The total number of overtime work in any quarter should not exceed seventy five hours.
