Hello,

Education and further/higher education for that matter, is indicative one of the two major factors. One is to acquire a passport to gainful employment/occupation and the other is to quench the thirst for more knowledge. Unless one's aim is to remain or land the education (teaching field), he may obtain a Ph.D. purely just for knowledge's sake. May be he would like to do research in any given field or create new knowledge too.

To decide if you should do Ph.D. you have to first decide your future career prefereances. If Ph. D. is an aid to your career preerences and progression, please go ahead and enroll.

Personally, though (I would have liked to do a Ph. D.) I have stayed away from a Ph. D. it is extremely enriching to study further to become a better human being. The career considerations can follow. Whether higher knowledge will help you do your present job better-there is no question. It certainly will.

But if are academically oriented, then a Ph.D is a natural extension. Else, you maynot enjoy much, even after you obtain your Ph. D.

I hope I have been able to help develop your thought on whether you should or shpould not persue Ph.D.

Best of Luck and Cheers!

Regards
