Hi, One of our employee passed away recently.
We came to know now that he has not withdrawn his PF accumulations of his services with his previous employer at Mumbai whom he was working before joining us, not sure about his length of service it might be around 6 years approx. He has been allotted new PF A/c No. in our company. He was working with us for the past one year. Kindly guide how to claim his PF accumulations and Family pension by his wife and by his 2 sons and a daughter ( all of them are between 15 to 21 years) and the necessary forms and documents to be filed.

The legal representative of the deceased shall apply for withdrawal of PF by separate applications to two Offices with attachment of death certificate, legal heir certificate. It shall be easy if the forms are forwarded through the employer.

You can send form 20 and form 10 D directly to EPF Office (previous location) after attesting your signatures by a gazetted officer, bank manager etc.

Forms 20 and 10 D need not be submitted separately by widow and children but widow can submit forms. In the present case since there was no transfer taken place from the previous account to the present PF she will have to send applications to both the offices. Still there is another technical issue because PF amount can be withdrawn from different offices but pension(monthly pension) can not be from two offices. Therefore, it would be perfect if advice is taken from the concerned authorities of the EPFO.
