I'm working with a pharmaceutical company as an Area Sales Manager, handling OTC products like Kids' health drinks, which are rivals to Junior Horlicks and Complan. I want to adopt the sales and distribution strategy followed by FMCG companies like Coke, HUL, Marico, etc. Can anybody provide me with good materials on FMCG Area Sales Manager guidebooks, Field Management, and FMCG sales and distribution modules in line with FMCG operations? This information will enable me to increase our brand presence and market share.
I'm already managing a team of 7 sales officers in Chennai and the rest of Tamil Nadu. They are responsible for handling distributors and ensuring product availability in kirana shops, general merchants, chemists, supermarkets, department stores, etc. Our company has a strong background in ethical selling only, and I have no prior experience in consumerization. I am looking for some good materials on FMCG distribution modules like territory management, coverage, and preparing a master coverage plan for each distributor, training our sales officers in field management and merchandising, in line with FMCG distribution principles.

To go the FMCG way, you need to expand your distribution reach from pharmacies to retail outlets. You need to be very aggressive in terms of brand building, promotions, and advertisements.
You would require to create a dedicated sales team for retail outlets, for which sales of your product should be able to justify the cost of the sales team.
