Dear Shalini,
First of all, make a proper planning & identify the motive of condcuting such events. Generally Quiz comes out best when organized in teams(you can take team of 2 participants also for more recognition of individuals). Such activities enhances team spirit, bonding and belongingnes..
To rectify the no. of participants, you must organize a prelimn round first, where you can share objective/subjective written quiz paper sheet. and can select the top bunch for the Quiz finale.
For the gifts, you can give trophies and certificates or a quiz book.
If still, you want to organize quiz for individuals only, then go for prelin round project-wise, and select the top performers of different project for final competition.

Dear Ms.Shalini,
As a part of May Day celebrations, I have conducted a quiz competition to our employees. The following was the ways, in which I have conducted the quiz competition.
I have segregated the questions in to four different categories as follows: 1) General knowledge, 2) Science, 3) Cine, 4) Sports with 4 multiple choices in it. Three members will form a team. For each team maximum of 5 questions were asked in all the categories, i.e., nearly 20 question all put together for one team. Each question carries 10 marks, negative marking was also allowed for wrongly answered questions, say -5. For the passed questions 5 marks can be awarded.
Finally, small sports cup were awarded for the First and second prize winners. Audiences were also involved actively, by giving them an immediate gift for those who answered the questions correctly.
Hope these guidelines will help you to conduct the quiz competition. For any assistance, kindly contact me.
