My brother is in Hotel Industry in the line of Food production.
It is mandatory for all the hotels to do a pre-employment medical tests done before joining in. Among all other tests, laboratory tests like blood, urine, stool, HIV etc. are done.
As far as Govt. rules are concerned in this, no idea but all organisations whether hotel or any other, pre-employment medical tests are done to understand the medical suitability of a candidate for the job.

Hi Shine,
Medical check up is also undertaken by many employers as a part of company policy. You may give maximum Rs.1000 - 2000 per head for pre employment medical check up. Which may be reimbursed upon production of bills. Check with some hospitals for tie up or check with a doctor or dietician what all must be covered under medical check up for employees working in hotel industry. If you tie up with a hospital then you can ask your new recruits to go through the check up and upon satisfactory result only they will be confirmed on the job.
Hotel industry is also covered under the various govt. acts as mentioned already.
Thanks

As per as my knowledge is concerned whatever explained by Mr.Taqeer is practically and legally true.Premedical Employment is done by a competent authority as mentioned in Factories Act,1947 ( i.e also mentioned by Mr.Tauqeer ).There is a prescribed Form for it in which various details related with emplyee ( Like: eye fitness, weight, blood Pressure, height etc.) is being examined by the authorised Medical Officer as mentined in Factories Act,1947.

Hotel Employees are covered under Factories Act and Factories Rules promulgated by different States. In which state your hotel industry comes in? That State would have formulated a Factories Rules, where in it would have been stated about pre employment medical check up. Please go thro.
Under the Factories Act, there is a person to be designated as 'certifying Surgeon' , who is the certifying authority for medical fitness of employees of that organisation. See whether you have such a certifying surgeon designated under the Act. If so Ask him. He must know the rules of your State.

Hi....,
I don't know whether it is compulsory for Hotel industry or not???
But the thing is that, it is a gud HR Policy to undertake a Medical pre-employment check-up for its employees.
The idea behind this is, the betterment of the Employees by helping know the Health Status of a person.
Further, in addition to this, it is a gud practice by the HR to take such check-ups after 6 months/ every year of completion of the job in the organization.
For this purpose, you may tie up with a gud hospital and move ahead with this gr8 idea.

Hi Shine,
I am from a Phrama Industry and we do the following medical pre-employment tests to our employees.

Blood Group and Rh Factor
Audiogram
C.B.C.
E.S.R.
Routine Urine
Urine Pregnancy Test (for female candidates)
E.C.G.
Blood Sugar / Fasting

My suggesion is that you can contact a physician and ask for the necessary test to be taken to suit the Hotel Industry.
