Well I think HR has a very important role during recession.
Proper Evaluation for the talents available within the company. Train the existing employees instead of recruitment of new ones
Proper Communication between the Management and Employees
Work on admin cost cutting and educate the employees on it
Moreover HR has to be a good communicator and a mediator to stop grapewine discussions regarding the company financial position during delay in salary and delay in appraisal. Work on attrition rate as employees may also leave the job thinking that the future of the company is in danger.
Make Employees aware of Recession and get in measures of improving more productivity.
Try and solve the conflicts between management and employees so as to have a smooth working.
These are few roles of HR during recession, Seniors please add on more points!!

As Lavena said we need to educate our employees about this. We have to retain the best of our talents and this could be the best time that we would be able to learn more about employees Psychologically. The safety issue that could creep into every employees mind has to be handled effectively by the HR and to retain the morale level of the employees. This would be the best time to learn more about people management skills.

Hi Lavena I agree with you fully. This is a most important aspect when an industry faces recession whatsoever sector it may be, good thought to be perceived. Balaji 99403 50217

Dear HR Professionals,The reply we have seen is not so much interesting and effective, bcz we all are HR professionals hence its our prime responsibility to think accordingly, one side we are talking about the cost cuttings so how it could be possible to keep the training cost ON, and if only internal trainer will perform their job, then it could not be so effective up to a certain level, every one is feeling un secure except few people key persons in any organisation, here it is the time to keep the moral high and motivated, but if the health of organisation will goes down then its very difficult to keep those things high. few of the industries directly effected by this wave and few of them indirectly and few are taking precautionary steps.I agree what earlier people said but i want those reply which really influence and effect this forum where every one is expecting expert advise/suggessation.Hope no one will take negative and keep posting on the same.RegardsArun9818067206

Hello Friends,
I have one presentation on this topic. You can share it with the employees if you feel suitable.
Actually its a file received on mail and I added some of my views so I locked it for edits.
If any body wants to edit it, just mail me on so that I can share the password to open it. Very frankly, I wanted to know who thinks to add or edit something in it must have some views on it. And by this I can discuss the exact views how people think.
Sorry friends, I am not HR person. I am from IT but I really have much interest in this field so generally my role here is a listener. As I have the file ready with me, I thought to share with you all.
Thanks n regards -- pankaj :)

Hi HR Professionals,
I would say to stick on to the jobs for a while upto 1st quater of the year. This recession is not a real one.
I would say that HR Professionals would not sink in recessions. They will over come with it. At this point I would say do not give bad impression due to recession...... this happened etc.,
Wait and see.

Hi friends!
I think this is the best time to Analyze. Analysis may be materialistic and non-materialsitic. It can light up all probable areas to cut the cost. This analysis in a targeted manner should be also communicated to employees on the need basis so as to develop their organisational citizenship. Hence two-way practice will be enforced to cut the cost.
Lots & Lots of Regards......................:icon1:
