Greetings..........
This is with regard to a great confusion in my mind, and i need your help in this.
Currently i am working as a HR executive with a software company
My role is to take care Core HR Function or you can call as HR Generalist.
My friends are forcing me to join a company as recruiter.
Suggest me whether i need to stay in core functions or go to recruitment:confused:

Hi,
Carrying a generalist profile u have lots of scope in other fields of Hr but if u want to make ur career specifically in recruitment field and have interest in the same then u can go for it as it is the base of HR...but at the some time later if u want to change ur profile then it might cause prob. as u'll be specific to one function of HR...

And i would like to continue with HR generalist but the current job market status where i am not able to get into a well organized company.
Because the current company where i am working it seems that they will shut it down.

being in generalist role is far far better than recruitment. you gain lot of information and experience whereas u dnt have much to learn in recruitment. in recruitment u will be only concerned with hiring , nothing else. u will loose out the exp u having now as u r involved in various HR activities. am an recruiter and am looking to expand my knowledge in HR acitivities.
so i suggest u not to shift to recruitment, thats hectic and no learning. :x

if you look out the growth of an HR then it start with recruitment and later Hr generalist comes in picture, but as u have already got a chance to work as a Generalist profile. so dont lose this chance and i recruitment you have to do as a telecaller (sourcing Profiles, caling them, take interviews etc) very little to learn in recruitment, so i suggest you should not change your profile and that too just bcoz your friends are forcing you. think twice if you have interest then only make a switch.

i dont think people should ignore recruitment in this way,remember recruitment is base of HR and we learn to read the mind of people .Actually people dont have idea how much money u van earn in a short period of time in recruitment , once u get this idea than there is no way to look back.but u can choose a profile where there is mixture of both for example 40 per Ger & 60 per Recruitment
