The holidays applicable to a company is purely an internal matter. Such matters are decided by the management and if there is standing orders, naturally, the list of holidays will be mentioned in the standing orders itself. However, 26th Jan, 15th Aug and 2nd Oct are public holidays which are mandatory. If your employees are willing to work on all other days except sundays (or on one weekly holiday) you can have only these three holidays in a year. In general, holidays are given depending upon the regional festivals and taking in to account religious sentiments.

1. Central Govt and State Govt officed will follow the Holidays declared by the Govt as Public Holidays.
2. Banks will follow Holidays declared under the Negotiable Instryments Act
3. All others need to follow the National and Festival Holidays Act applicable in their respective States
National Holidays
Republic Day, Independance Day and Gandhi Jayanthi are declared as National Holidays in all States In Tamilnadu and Kerala May Day is also declared as National Holiday. In karnataka Rajayotsava Day is decxlared as National Holiday. Most States have 4 National Holidays. If one os these days falls on Sunday and a declared Holiday, you still declare this National Holiday and it need not be compendated with another Holiday

There are generally 5 days in many States. Kerala has 7 or 8 days declared as Festival Holidays. These days will be decided every year and the festivals can be decided by the Management in consultation with employees/union.

In factories it is calculated as one day for every twenty days of work It is the same alkl over India In Shops and Establishments Act under which all Banks, BPOs IT Comp[-anioes Call centres come, it is 15 days in a calendar year It is generally same all over India HBowever I would request you to check your local Shops and Establishments Act

If at all these factories provide, it is always under some settlement or as per contractual terms for executives/non unisonised staff.
Under the Shops and Establishments Act, 12 days of Casual/Sick leave is allowed in Tamilnad and some stated have 14 days. Please refer to your local Act

Under the Peoples Representaion Act, all establishments shall declare the Voting Day in their locality as a Paid Holiday for elections for Assemblies and Parliaments and for any byelection for these seats in their locality.
This is not applicable for local Municipal/Corporation elections. These Holidays can not be compensated
Accident Leave
All those employees covered under ESI are covered for Accident leave under the Act. Those who are not covered under ESI are covered under the Workemen's Compensation Act
