Hi,
I want to confirm from our HR community friends that, when we initiate the job rotation activity for any employee (form one dept to other dept) is it required to initiate the transfer process also in this. (Ex.- 'A' is working in finance dept. and due to some urgency org. has taken decision to rotate him in purchase dept) do is it required to initiate the inter dept. transfer process from him.
Thanks & Regards,
Amit

Dear Amit,
It depends on the policies you have on your organisation. Usually, a tranfer letter is served to the employee and upon joining at the new position a new JD is given to him. Its better to serve the transfer letter as it will bring lot of clarity, transparency and common understanding among the employees.

Dear AmitRotation is actully conducted to give the benefit of experience in all the areas of functioning to employees. To minimise the monotony of work. Motivate staff and from Management point of view have a back up for managing the show. Rotations are generally done by immidiate Reporting ManagerTransfer necesarily involves physical change of workplace and mainly done on administrative grounds - expertise / experience very rarley to be used as punishment tool. Transfers are done by HR - centralised function.Rotation register is maintained detailingEmployee Name, Designation, Working at current job, since, Rotated to job, Since, reason for rotation. It can be maintained as long as the physical location is the same, the rotaion is in the department itself or in the branch or of units having interlinked administration. however this will not reflect in employees personal file for future reference at the time of transfer/ promotion / disciplinery action etc - to carry the register to HR will be tedious. So intimating HR for updation of personal file is better. Transfer has to be done with the transfer procedure to smoothen the relocation for all namely - employee, administration - wrt travel and acomdation arrangemetnt, payments and accounts / salary - for payment of entitlements on transfer, and last but not the least to HR for ensuring career path of employee. That is initiate a transfer process is a better option. A smoother option is take a policy decision in your organisation on this issue.Hope this is useful for youPari.
