Dear Mayur,
SMU is DDE(Directorate of Distance Education) and UGC approved University so you can join SMU Courses but if you want to pursue career as a HR in a reputed organisation it will not work beacause they require MBA from regular institution. You can also look forward to SYMBOISIS PUNE in this connection.

Mayur,
Do you intend to pursue HRM as your profession? Then MBA or PGDM will not help you. Because, in such courses you are learning only a couple of courses relating to HRM. To know HRM you must understand the process of HRM, step by step for which none of the formal education is sufficient. So you join any university or institute to understand what is HRM and then build upon the base by reading and discussing and understanding from different organisations and experts the mechanisms of HRM.
Dont worry about your formal degree and education. Try to understand the subjects well.( I mean indepth). Good luck

Hi Mayur,
I did my BSc IT from SMU, the only problem i faced was limitation of knowledge, the learning provided by SMU course books were limited, this i realised when later i joined CDAC for further qualification. Thats my experience, the choice is all yours.
Gd Luck

Dear Mayur,

SMU is accredited under UGC and Directorate of Edu.. While it is safe to do it from there, it is not yet the best recognized amongst corporates and recruiters. I know, more guys are going to SMU these days since the cut-off marks with the better univs. is quite steep leaving one with little choice. Most that I know of are doing Engineering courses on day-boarding.

You can try Symbiosis, Pune, or, IGNOU (good course material), XLRI (if you qualify), XISS, TISS or regional Univs like Delhi, Chandigarh, or, slightly lesser mortals in IMI, IMT, IIPM, MDI, etc.

Some are Univs while some may only have a PG Dip in HRM and many of these have come up with distance learning course offerings (including MBA/equivalents). Do not go by PG Dips that feign/advertise to be "deemed equivalent" to an MBA (unless for IIMs that have Harvard affliation). MBA can only be offered by proper Universities.

For MBA HR, reputation of the University or Institute will matter (especially in India) throughout your career span though with slightly diminishing returns since experience takes over to some extent as you grow over the years. Good MBAs will give you a headstart at the entry/mid-level in terms of titles, corresponding responsibilities & salary offers.

So.. try to do it from one of the more recognized ones (some of which are indicated here), if possible. Afterall, its going to be quite an effort and therefore, do a bit of researching with good ones before embarking on one such course.

Good luck!

Thanks Rahul for such a good advise.... I m working with my father as labour law consultant since last 8 years.. but now i m thining of doing MBA and Also SAP HR then wanted to do job.. My current qualification is Bcom, LLB and PGD IRPM. So can u say how is this for me ?? IS there any scope of this type of guyes in market?

Dear Mayur,

It is nice to know that you are working with your father as a labour law consultant. That will accord you a decent exposure to the labour scenario, its perspective in the Indian context, the applicable labour laws (on factories, (commercial) establishments, shops, various services, etc & compliance thereof. Many HR practitioners, especially at the corporates in cosmopolitan cities across the country are often not so fortunate to get a good look-in/exposure to this area and end up practicing the process/ developmental & interventional side of the function. By 8 years, you may have already learnt a fair bit of laws, regulations, certified SOs, compliance & perhaps disputes resolution.

You already have a fairly good qualification (particularly your LLB & PGD IR&PM) and can start off in any industry more on the Personnel & IR side (say, in factory/site-office settings). Do not undermine yourself and you can do well. Lots in HR are not very fortunate to possess HR qualification but are practitioners more by experience/ exposure. You may be comparative better off..

I will encourage you to go ahead and do your MBA HR since that will ensure greater marketability for you apart from enhancing your knowledge and career avenues. SAP HR will help you to be a Functional Consultant in an IT Company having a SAP ERP (whether BI/AIS/MySAP for SME/ME/Large A/cs) working environment if you can make it. But do the SAP HR module from a proper accredited institution such as SIEMENS. (Beware of the many fictitious institutions claiming to be SAP authorized by SAP AG, (Germany).

Your ability to get selected and career progression actually would depend on your exhibition of depth of knowledge, job aptitude/knack, problem solving capabilities and individual competence to start with. That's common for everyone.

I wish you the best.

Rahul

if this man has such qualification then:
Why he needs more qualification?
What Sense with this particular Universitymakes to his qualification?
Either he is lying that he is qualified with so many degrees or he got fake qualifications and certification from some printing press....
This whole bunch of bluffmastering is time wasting....Moderator must be learned enough to delete such bogus postings.
