Dear Nikki
Whenever we are applying for Passport, any important Government jobs and some sensitive job opportunities, then there will be a police verification, which will reveal the factual remarks from the official records of Police. This will be effecting his career. Otherwise he can join in some other employment in private company, where there will not be any police verification or any third party verification. If your friend reveal the truth initially before or while forwarding for verification by the company then there will not be any problem at all.

Dear Nikki,
Yes, if he is applying abroad, it will affect his career. However, it doesn't apply in India if you are going to engage him with any private or public industry.. Police verification is a very tedious process and it requires lot of time, which is not even properly followed in many Govt industries. In my earlier assignment, we lodged a FIR against two of our middle level managers who were found to be involved in a theft case which we thought of approx. 2/3 lacs but after police interrogation, it was revealed almost 15-20 lacs. Both of them were sacked but recently I came to know that they are working in the same location industries.
You may give him this solace.. But, ask him to be extra careful. By the way, just for drinking & driving doesn't call for FIR for the first offence, it must be an accident case. Just check.
Regards,
Jos

The filing of FIR for drunk and drive case is not going to affect his future prospects in private or public employment or even in abroad. The punishment for the same is a fine of Rs.3500/- or impresentment of 6 months or both. But 99% of the cases it is fine if he plead guilty. But you friend must be careful hereafter. But all should know that drinking and driving is not good for man kind.
