I am having service centre of consumer durables and mobile phones.
I am doing repair of products where I have staff of more than 20 manpower.
Need to clarify if I have to take factory license.
the article doesn't becomes commercially known as another and different article from that as it had began its existence.
Need to understand if I have to take factory license.

Under the Factories Act-1948, The act defines the manufacturing process
Definition of manufacturing process:
I. Making, altering, repairing, ornamenting, finishing, packing, oiling, washing, cleaning, breaking up, demolishing or otherwise treating or adapting any article or substance with a view to its use, sale transport, delivery or disposal.
II. Pumping oil, water, sewage or any other substance
III. Generating, transforming or transmitting power
IV. Composing types for printing, printing by letter press, lithography, photogravure or other similar process or book binding
V. constructing, reconstructing, repairing, refitting, finishing or breaking up ships or vessels.
Act also defines what is factory
Definition of factory
"Factory" means any premises including the precincts thereof
I. Whereon ten or more workers are working, or were working on any day of the preceding twelve months, and in any part of which a manufacturing process is being carried on with the aid of power, or is ordinarily so carried on
II. Whereon twenty or more workers are working, or were working on any day of the preceding twelve months, and in any part of which
a manufacturing process is being carried on without the aid of power, or is ordinarily so carried on
From the above definition - Yes, your organization falls under factories act hence you have to comply with provisions of this act

Hi buddy, Your organization will be covered under factories act. And automatically your organization will also fall under PF and ESI act.

please check up under Shops & Establishment Act of your state, if your establishment comes under schedule establishment it is not neceassry to fave factory licence , only registration under shops Act would be enough.
