Dear Ishita
It depends upon the requirement of the profile.
For example: if you need a simple graduate for a post then you will obviously ask him questions to get updated information about his work status, willingness to change, CTC details etc.
But if say you have to choose someone for outbound calling profile, you need to check the person on required skills like you can ask him to give a small introduction of his to check his communication skills, few technical questions to check the knowledge etc,
So the questions are framed on the basis of criteria you decide to shortlist the candidates.
Hope it clarifies to you.

Check his comm skills by talking to him like where are you from, where you studied, where you are working etc.
Ask current CTC, expectations and joining period
If all these suits you and the person is in budget then call him for Personal interview.

Hi Ishita,
Please ask for his/her suitable time to talk first...importnat thing to create professional image of urs as HR and ur company/organisation.
Then start with what kind of job role he/she is looking for and then brief them in short about ur vacant position if candidate finds interesting then continue the interview .
If candidate is fresher, ask questions on education, career interst, domain interest, reasons why for interest in job/domain,salary expectations, joining time and if he/she sounds ok to you ask them for personal interview.
If candidate is with experience then cross check by questions on job role, company profile, achivements, reson for change, salary current and expectations, joining time. Some questions on past experience if any and then come on questions base on education.can have question to check interest about ur company/job like why he/she wana to apply,if you finds ok through it then ask the candidate for personal interview.
hope it clears your quiry.

Hello Ishita,
For telephonic round -
1stly - Check if this is the the best time to talk
2ndly - Introduce yourself and the org you calling from and the purpose for the call
3rd - Check the candidate's interest in pursuing the talk ahead [if he/she looking for job, relocation etc]
4th - Share the required skills and ask for candidate's relevant exp and interest
5th - If the reply is positive then do ask for resume to proceed ahead
On receiving the resume if you are able to connect the telecon with the written detail then proceed ahead.
This will be good enough for technical skills but for functional skills you can judge the candidate along with subject on other skills like overall structure of talk, communication, presentation, confidence on call and then accordingly decide to proceed ahead.
Hope this helps !!

Hi Ishita,
I'm sure you must be having an understanding of the Job role & responsibilities attached to the position you are going to conduct the tele round of interview, number 1, no.2 the job title must be having specific prerequisites i.e. the static or fixed qualifying essentials, mean, yrs. of exp, age limit, sector, current position etc.
The basic purpose behind conducting the tele round is to shortlist those qualifying the static requirements. To discuss the flexible parameters, personal round is better, which may be conducted with the shortlisted candidates following the telephonic round.
I'm sure the info would help you a bit.
