Many new HR persons have asked me a common question. Can we have PPt on Labour laws with updated information on the amendments. Many of them call me and take advice over phone also. Recently, a student of a B School who had attended my sessions on their Certificate Program on Personnel Management and Industrial relations which the College had given to the students undergoing MBA (HR)as an add on course, called me and asked for an updated version of the PPts. In fact, like any other student this student should also have attended the sessions with an academic mind and knowing that these are not going to give him any credits or grades/ marks in their University Examinations he should not have preserved the materials properly. But when he got a job in HR department and that also in a manufacturing concern where the workers and the Union leaders are more informed of the changes being made in the labour laws, he should have realised the importance of the program he missed out in his campus!
Yes, it is true. The program consisted of 5 modules with Labour Law as one of the modules. This module contained an understanding of the various laws relevant to an HR person with case study materials. Since the modules are mine only and the person who took sessions also is mine, I can easily share it among the members of citehr. Before staring the sessions, however, I would like to know whether the session would give any result or not and if yes, how to start with? I think one PPt with a few laws and the supporting case laws/ discussions on the citations per week would be okay. This is expected to be an interactive program where we can take the assistance of our learned members.
Hope to get feedback. The attached is the content of the program.

Please find the first session PPt. I would request all of you to share your valuable experience in your own functional areas so that this would become more interactive. This would give all of us an idea about state Acts and the state rules and amendments. I have given Kerala Acts wherever we do not have Central Act.

The first set of slides is all about the basic Acts which provide for registration of factories, plantations or shops and commercial establishments and the action to be taken by us to ensure health, safety and welfare of the workers/ employees working therein. The objective of these Acts remain the same, ie, ensure health, safety and welfare of workers.
Now let us see the Acts which defines the relationship between the employer and the employees and the conditions of service of the workers.

In the third session I have included rules relating to payment of minimum wages to workers, the manner in which it should be given and rules pertaining to payment of allowances to those who are under suspension.
I request all of you to share your thoughts so that the session would become active.
