Can anyone please brief me on HR Payroll process. what're the job responsibilities involved in it. I've searched for the same but I'm a bit confused. And another question is - do firms use some software for the entire payroll process or some part of the payroll is done on excel. and would you please tell me the name of the payroll software where I can practice payroll activities (the entire process).with raw data.

Dear Mr. Sharma,
Payroll process starts from attendance and Leave data merging with payroll.
then one should consider-
1. LWP
2. Loan and Advance Deductions.
3. Tax Deduction.
4. Reimbursement Addition.
5. ESI, PF and P.Tax Calculations.
6. Miscellaneous Deductions ( Subsidize Food, Transport, Accommodation, Insurance Etc.)
7. Increment Updation (If increments done on monthly Basis)
8. New Joining Addition.
9. F & F of Left employees.
10. Arrears consideration.
These are few common activities of payroll process.

I'm familiar and comfortable with all of the Payroll parts which you mentioned in the reply except Loan and advance deductions. As the firm, I've worked with was a very small firm hardly 30 employees and my profile wasn't as HR payroll or generalist so that's why I was confused with this payroll term, So, sir could you please brief me about loan and advance deductions and how to calculate it and how much % involved.

Dear Sumit,
1. Loan - If any employee has taken loan from employer then you need to deduct mutually agreed monthly installment or as per the Loan policy from Salary under Loan Deduction Head.
2. Advance - If any employee has taken salary advance or part of salary advance before salary dismemberment as per the Salary Advance Policy then you need to deduct that part or full salary advance under the Advance Head.
