Dear Madhuri,

Whether working in the manufacturing company or in the services, the service function of HR remains the same. It does not change. Nevertheless, the major differentiator between manufacturing and services is the feedback on customer satisfaction. In the former, it is a little later whereas in the latter it is immediate. Therefore, you may focus on the causes of customer dissatisfaction and find out how you can address it by improving recruitment or training interventions.

In the transport sector, drivers are always at the centre stage. They are the ones who make or break the company. Therefore, focus on their career development. Identify who has the potential to become a manager and develop a career plan for them.

All the best!

Dear Madhuri.jee,
Namaste !
The basic principles of General Management being the same ; the Specific principles may vary as per the nature of services in that Industry.

Whereas, the Quality of the Goods may be the utmost factor in Manufacturing Industry ; the Quantity of TIME may be the utmost factor in the Transport Industry.
Hence the main role of HR Manager in Transport Industry would be TIME management and that must be of utmost Quality.
Prime most would be to Identify Punctual task force....the ones who LOVE respecting time.
They should be utilised to inspire ALL others to appreciate their Individual roles in Winning this Race with the time.
In doing this Not only are the Transport Managers important but also the those who can keep the transport machinery in the healthy condition to avoid any kind of mishaps resulting in colossal waste of time.
HR Transport should also know that it is not only the Timely result important here but also maintaining the Quality of goods transported. This must never be compromised at the cost of achieving the dead line.
Managing the Commitments given to the Customer is also a big factor in this industry.Hence it is the duty of HRMngr in Transport Industry to allocate this duty only to Capable,Understanding,Mature,Polite staff who can handle the orders and the customers most efficiently.
They should be brilliant in handling the customers with politeness and utmost care so as to keep crisis situations at zero.
Finally Transport HRMs must know that its the CUSTOMERS that is the MAIN FUEL to keep the Transport Industry running well.
