Hi, Yes one month notice / proper handing over of work is mandatory irrespective of the appointment terms. One can’t just vanish away from work place one fine morning.

Shop and Est Act Maharashtra ---The Act does not specify any requirements of notice periods for resignation or termination of employment and employers can prescribe notice periods in employment contracts as they deem fit.
Hence if one month notice period it is mentioned in appointment letter and has been accepted as such by both the parties, then it should be honoured
