We are a small size E-Commerce company and are on a phenomenal growth curve. To maintain and continue this growth we need to get the best talent available in the market.
Can someone give tips on how to attract the candidates we want for our company? It has become a great challenge to get in candidates from Tier 1 & 2 colleges which is what we target.
We have great opportunities in all departments but just need the right person to take it up

1) make employee friendly policy .......like flexi timing, maternity benefit, compensatory off etc
2) create fun filled culture
3) have a good employee referral programme where u reward the referee.
4) approach colleges , fund events ....to create brand image
5) let your employees take up corporate social responsibility issues, giving lectures at colleges etc.......it will add value to employees + get ur company noticed.
Things will take little long to click, but fruits are guarenteed. :D

Sony thnx. for your reply.
We have covered most of the suggestions made by you but we have noticed candidates from the good campus look forward to join companies which have a "brand" name.
Personally I would want to take up a job which is challenging and my presence in the company makes a difference. But most of the candidates don't want to take up such challenges.
Also with the best talent i mean candidates from either from tier 1 or 2 universities.

we being from one of the very known company in India....still face this problem. Now any point of time people have good offers to choose from .
So we have started looking at talent from very small cities.
this year we have done campus placements from cities like pallakad, madurai, hospet, vizag .
You need to take a call regarding it.

Hello vishwas1968:
>Also with the best talent i mean candidates from either from tier 1 or 2 universities.<
What percentage of the workforce graduates from tier 1 and tier 2 universities?
You do not need the "best talent available in the market" but you do need to hire competent people who have adequate or better talent for the job and talent is not related to an applicant's alma mater.

Hi my name is vijay, doing my masters in engineering management and MBA in Charles Darwin University Australia,i wanna contribute something to your question. All the major companies go for candidates without arrears in their academics till the final semester, selecting such students doesn't mean that they got the top talent. They are actually getting the book worms .But the way the companies train them makes them good employees.engineering colleges students doesn't concentrate on studies but will involve in various co curricular and extra curricular activities such as symposiums,so majority of the students handle their subjects when they feel easy to finish. So select students who finish their degrees within their final year.no matter what grade they have acheived, train them and alter them to your company needs. They will work for you for cheap as they are in the initial stage of their job search. They won't stand with your company for a long span so just make a contract for three years such that your investment on them gets retained, but don't go more than three years as they can feel depressed due to the salary package. If you want you can keep them with you by providing incentives.
thnx. for your contributions have got a lot of clarity on the path that should be taken by us.

Hi
Now a days Retention function is very much challenging in nature.
There are some core factors which enrich employees morale and job satisfaction like,
1. First stepping stone is : To design proper and expertise job profile to boost up employees work assignments.
2. Second : There should be a proper system to execute each and every function easy and smoothly.
3. To provide basic and essential facilities to make employees feel comfort and ease.
4. There should be a sport club in company or organisation where colleagues assemble together and have a fun to get refresh.
5. quarterly cultural evening programme should be conducted to overcome from day to day dynamics and stress.
