Washing allowance and travelling / conveyance allowance are the two components of wages excluded from the scope of wages for contribution of ESI. There is no maximum limit prescribed but you are not expected to have more amounts on travelling than the other components. Similarly, washing allowance is excluded only when there is any uniform supplied to the workers. You can also exclude incentives paid in an interval of more than two months.
