Hi!
My name is Anatoliy Kim, I am a student.
I have got an assignment about the HR in the University and wanted to ask for advice and guide. I would like to read as much as possible before starting to write the final paper, so I am asking for help in locating the materials.
The question was set as follows:
Discuss the differences of human resource practices of small and large companies. Limit the discussion to the following subject areas:
- compensation schemas
- performance appraisal systems
- career management policies
Small company was defined as "any company or enterprise with no more than 50 employees".
Additional considerations were:
- Examine how employees are influenced by financial and non-financial motivators
- Discuss the various pay packages that small organisations offer to attract employees
- Examine how performance appraisal systems can be improved to aid employees' development
- Discuss how small companies manage employees' career plans and expectations, and how organisations approach the development of human resources
I want to find out some general practices in each instance and like evaluate their pros/cons.
Would be glad for any advice, guide or link to read. Thank you in advance.

From Uzbekistan,
PS: It is only 3rd week as I study HR, and although I understand everything we covered so far fully, I guess I don't even know about a lot of issues about HR.
I am currently searching on my own, but there is a chance that I will miss something which might be important just because I don't know what to look for. So, even if you mention the term or methodology without explaining it or giving reference/link - it would be just great.

Hi Kim,
Best way to understand the above topics would be to visit some companies in your country – do a primary research on the above to give you first hand understanding of the situation..as merely reading the topics may not suffice..as practices differ from country to country esp on Compensation & Benefits..
