Can one do 2 jobs simultaneously in india? Actually i have been working with a private company and under probation period. In between, i got a better opportunity from a Govt of India job. Now, i want to Join the govt job for 15 days by providing medical certificate to my private company HR. Then, after 15 days i will come back to my private job and continue for 2 months till the end of my probation period. In between, i will provide a medical certificate to the govt job. After 2 months, i will leave the private job and will continue my career as a govt employee. Is there any problem? Because i have heard that, govt employees can take leave upto 6 months by producing medical certificate. Moreover, govt job can never be lost.. isn't? So, can i continue 2 full time jobs for 2 or 3 months like this. Please help me in this regard...

Dear Jessica,
One can not ride two horses simultaneously. Similarly, without terminating the contract of employment, you can not switch jobs in between. Employment means being at the disposal of the employer for hire or reward with an impliedly continuous relationship. So dual employment is strictly prohibited. The provision of leave on medical grounds is to enable a regular employee to get over any physical ailments caused by disease or other external reasons like accident etc without loss of earnings for a certain period based on the length of service. If any doubt arises, the employer can subject you to the re-diagnosis by a medical board. So,You can not dupe the two employers by providing false medical certificates obtained by playing any trick on the doctor or with his active connivance. If the fact of your dual employment comes to the knowledge of any one employer, you may be stripped off both the jobs. Moreover, such a thought and practice are certainly immoral and unethical.
