Dear Seniors, Please let me know if overtime is applicable and how to calculate it on excel as per Employees salary.
The Warehouse is in Mumbai
Work Time
Mon-Fri-11:30 am to 8:00 pm (Ladies leave at 7:30)
Saturday- 11:30 am to 6:30 pm
This includes lunchtime of half an hour.
So, twice a month, they have to come early, around 7/8 am, and sometimes leave at around 10 pm because of shipment.
Do we have to pay them overtime for the same? If yes, then what will be the calculation in Excel?

On any day on which the employees work for more than 8 hours (excluding interval for lunch, say half an hour) you have to pay overtime wages at double the rate. If the employees come at 8 am, then for that day the scheduled working hours is from 8 am till 4 pm. If an employee leaves at 6 pm, he should get overtime wages for 2 hours. If on a day an employee comes at 11. 30 am and leaves at 10 pm, he should be entitled to 2 hours OT for that day.

In the salary sheet itself there should be columns for number of OT Hours, OT rate per hour and OT Wages. OT rate per hour should have a formula applied so that it will reflect hourly rate at double. The OT wages column should also have formula to multiply the overtime hours by OT rate. Once you put the number of hours, the OT wages will come and that should be among the additions (Basic, DA, HRA, Conveyance, Special pay...etc) to get the gross wages.

If you have single OT (for those who have taken leave not worked for 48 hours but have done overtime after having remained for leave for one or two days) you can split the column for overtime hours and rate with separate columns for "single rate" and Double rate".
