INTERNSHIP
FOR INTERNSHIP, always pick subjects , in which
-you can easily collect information
-easy to relate within the firm
-collect lots of information.
Since you mentioned HR AND SYSTEMS, I WOULD SUGGEST
-HUMAN RESOURCE INFORMATION SYSTEM [ H R I S ]
-HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM.
-REWARD MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
-PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Pournami,
It would be nice if you could give details, whether you are from Bangalore University or any other university, cuz, Bangalore university Internships is not based on any topic for Internship, It is only an Organisational Study. I am not aware of other university's module.
In case you are asked to do on any specific topic, you can do on Pay roll, perfomance appraisal, Compensation mgt, etc, any easy topic would do for Internship.

Pournami,
I am also a fresh MBA graduate from Bangalore University, just joined the industry, I was in the same state as you are now when I had to do my Internship, you choose either HR, or finance or marketing, ifyou have chosen HR, get into the HR department of your selected organisation, (I did at MICO) then get all the details abt how the company functioning, its products, etc whaterver the format given by the university, then concentrate more on SWOT as your viva will be judged more on how u have done and how u present the SWOT analysis. THis is practical, no one will see what topic you are doing etc, you can choose one area of study in your final project.
All the best, if any query do mail me or post your queries here.

:D Hi Pournami,
As you have specializations in HR and IT, probably you may consider these areas. I am just continuing with Mr. leolingham2000 ..
1. HRIS SDLC : All HRIS need not be developed in Legacy platforms. Probably you may contact medium sized organizations and try developing stand-alone applications which may automate certain tasks of HR. You may do it using VB and Access (or ASP - SQL). This will help you aquire knowledge in certain phases in SDLC (a complete SDLC is really difficult in the form of a project).
2. Collective Information Retrieval : This is a recent buzzword. Again 'collective information retrieval' could be on just any platform. The good idea can be to contact a small/ mid sized organization and try developing their custom HRIS (or upgrade the existing setup).
This field can be a good choice as there will be demand of skilled manpower in the future who have expertise in IT-HR. I am giving emphasis on mid sized or small organization because here you may get the good exposure and freedom to experiment ..
Here are some humble suggestions that you may consider.
1. While searching for a good project, its better to go for a project which has the chances of actual implementation in the Organization.
2. Its always better to keep in touch with the the HR (or the HRIS implementation owner), this may fetch a good offer for you in the future :D
3. If you are not very confident with certain technologies, the humble MS Excel with VBA will also do. Its better to work a brilliantly developed VBA-Excel worksheet than loosely written discrete programs in JAVA. People will love the former ..
And I do agree with Mr. pramod also. It is in fact the marks sheet that you will have to use to fetch a good job. You can select one easy topic like the suggested ones, instead of doing a comprehensive HRIS.
Wish you the very best of luck.
