But I read somewhere that its nil till 2500 then 2501 - 3500 is 60 3501- 5000 is 120 5001 - 10000 is 175 10001 and above is 200 Please advise asap.

Maharashtra Professional Tax Act wef 1.7.2009 : Effective till today
1.) If Monthly gross salary do not exceed Rs.5000/- P Tax Rs. Nil
2.) If Monthly gross salary exceed Rs.5001 but do not exceed Rs.10000/- P Tax Rs.175/- pm.
3.0 If Monthly gross salary exceed Rs.10000/- P Tax Rs.200/- pm and in Feb Rs.300/- pm
The following persons are exempted from the provisions of the Profession Tax Act in Maharashtra :
a.) Senior Citizen above 65 years age.
b.) Handicapped Person with more than 40 % disability or parent of a physically disabled or mentally retarded child.
