According to Telangana S&E Act,

Every employee in any establishment shall also be entitled during his first twelve months of continuous service and during every subsequent twelve months of service
(a) to leave with wages for a period not exceeding twelve days on the ground of any sickness or accident and
(b) to casual leave with wages for a period not exceeding twelve days on any reasonable ground.

When it states "Not exceeding", does it mean maximum of 12 days for sick leave and maximum of 12 days for casual leave. The wording is confusing as it almost suggest we can give less than 12 days.

Hi thank you very much for the quick response.
We are ten member team, we are structuring leave policy, we work for 5 days a week, 8 hrs work and 1 hour break. Could you suggest an ideal way to structure CL, EL, SL that benefits the company and the team members.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi, The ideal way to structure the leave policy is to follow leave rules as per Shops and Establishment Act irrespective of 5 or 6 days work a week.

I think not exceeding here means the employee can use up to 12 days, but it’s not compulsory for him to use those days. Can you give the relevant section number?
