Dear All, How does one conduct an Audit in HR Department. Is it similar to that in Finance Department or is there any specific procedure & how is it related to the Performance of the Employees? Please brief me about this.

Hi Fay,
There is no compulsion that Audit of HR department has to be conducted.
However if a manufacturing company is exporting their products, then the buyers may ask for HR audit - which is called Corporate Social Responsibility or in other words COMPLIANCE.
The Audit covers:
1. HR Department - Recruiting, Compensation, Working Hours and Overtime, Discipline, Child Labour, Non Discrimination, Non Harasment and Abuse.
2. Health, Safety and Environment - The Employees Health and how the Management ensures / take care of this, Safety in Work area and Environment both Working area and External.
3. Security System
There are around 10 Principles which encompas the requirements.
The audit is either carried out by the Buyers representative or one can get the company certified by some international agencies, an example being SA 8000 or the like which are accepted by many Buyers.
Again irrespective of Buyers involvement. it gives a great satisfaction and self esteem to Corporates that their organisations are Compliant and follow all relevant rules, regulations, procedures etc and also ensures good morale of the employees.
I am a Consultant in this field and have audited companies and guided them to become Compliant and got them certified by international agencies.
If you are interested, you may get in touch with me. I will be only too happy to help.
Best Wishes.
