Hi, I have worked in 4 companies. I have joined a company which is 5th. They are unable to verify my 2nd company and have put me in amber status. They have asked for a bank statement and form 16. I have not collected form 16 from my employer. I also don't have a bank statement as that account has been closed. Can you please tell me what step can the company take towards my employment?

If you are otherwise suitable to the 5th company, then it can discount the experience of 2nd company if it is not substantial. In case you have retained some correspondence or other communication like Office Orders of the 2nd company it can be relied by your 5th company to verify your employment background. If the 2nd company is still in existence and functioning you could request them to issue an experience certificate or else verify the position when referred to them.

The bank account my have been closed, but you must be having the bank statements, right?
Also, unless the account is very old, the bank will still be willing to give you the copy of statements if you approach them. They do not refuse statements for the closed bank accounts.

There is no bar, a person can joining as many company as he wishes and should to keep the records of his employment.
The HR becomes suspicious, particularly when they come across any candidate having multiple employment within short span of service period. Therefore, they want to know more about such candidate by doing deep.
You can have the details statement of your closed bank account from the bank. There is no big issue in getting the account statement. This on strength as I got bank statement of 7 years old from the local branch yesterday while self is away from the home branch.
