Hi All,
I had recently joined a manufacturing industry. Previously there is no HR and now company want Biometric attendance system.
Issues are following:-
1. Most of workers are getting below minimum wage,,,how can i register them in payroll pakage.
2. There is no standard salary break-up,,,,pls advise according to manufacturing industry.
Pls also advise if i get Biometric attendance machine then should we maintain wage and other register manually or machine report is sufficient.
Pls help me out asap

Since you do not pay the minimum wages fixed by the government, the formats prescribed under the Factories Act, Payment of Wages Act etc can not be maintained by you. Various Acts call for different forms, returns and registers to be maintained at factory office. These are subject to inspection by the competent persons, viz, Inspector of Factories & Boilers, Labour Inspector etc. Therefore, first of all bring all the employees under minimum wages.
You can have electronic devises and soft copies of the returns and registers. But along with it please manage hard copies also since generally the authorities are more concerned about the registers in hard copy when they inspect the factory.

Hi,
I suggest that you must check whether the workers getting salary below minimum wage are on company rolls. You may start a system to hire contractor for such requirements. In that case you will not be required to maintain the data for these people, but still you will have to check the data of contractor.
For rest of the employees, design salary structure and salary breakup system. You can gather the data as is and then redesign the structure without changing the salaries.
Once you complete this process, you can work on developing the online system.

if u are paying below the minimum wages ,then biometrics can only help you in getting accurate in and out time of employee,it will stop proxy punching , unauthorized access & u can stop defaulty joing u again .
u can get attendance in excel or any form ,and once u get inputs in excel u can prepare any HR report easily,but in future u should pay at least minimum wages ,
also have at least 4 breakups in yours sal structure(basic ,hra,tpt,spc.allowance )to bring uniformity in sal structure once atlest this is done biometrics will be really helpful
